A dual approach to innovation

Our innovation strategy is two-pronged: We are constantly expanding our innovation pipeline with novel synthetic peptides, UV-filters, natural skin care ingredients including organic and microalgae-based bioactives, nutritional lipids and vitamins, tailored hair care polymers and sensory modifiers for sun care and holistic skin care.

But no matter how good we are at what we do, we recognize and embrace that there will always be an abundance of great ideas outside DSM. We therefore also engage in open innovation, starting new collaborations and licensing projects with best-in-class partners. This gives us early access to new ideas while freeing our internal R&D teams to focus on our own areas of special expertise or on cross-fertilizing projects which capitalize on internal competences within DSM Nutritional Products and the wider company.
