Polyesters have excellent high temperature thermal and oxidative stability.
UL RTI listings of continuous use temperatures are generally 130-140°C for
most Arnite grades. This allows Arnite to be widely used in
automotive applications and low voltage
switchgear where high temperatures are encountered.
In addition, Arnite polyesters have excellent color stability at high
temperatures under continuous use, making them particularly suitable for
lighting applications.
Some applications, like automotive headlamps, have stringent specifications on
fogging, i.e. low release of volatiles when the plastic part is exposed to
high temperatures (160°C) for long durations.
Extremely low outgassing of Arnite XL
Within the Arnite portfolio, special Arnite XL grades exist that have
extremely low outgassing characteristics, making them particularly suitable
for automotive headlamp applications.
