Cleaning

In general, parts must be clean and free from oils and greases before metallization and must receive a cleaning treatment where necessary. The different metallization techniques are not all equally sensitive to contaminants. For electroless plating, cleaning prior to etching is optional and generally not used if parts are reasonably clean. If parts are not touched with bare hands and contamination is avoided during handling, cleaning might not be necessary.
