Introducing a Breakthrough in Melamine Testing From DSM Food Specialties
Delft,Netherlands,23 Mar 2009 15.00 CET

In response to demand for better food safety standards, DSM Food Specialties has announced the launch of Delvotest®[1] MT, a breakthrough immunoassay designed to detect the presence of melamine in milk. Specifically developed for the Chinese dairy industry, this new testing system is a welcome introduction for manufacturers keen to reassure consumers of product safety.

The Delvotest MT testing kit offers dairy producers a quantative and sensitive method for melamine screening. The easy-to-use test works through the recognition of melamine by antibodies and requires less than one ml of the sample extract to determine the product’s safety. Plus, the test can be performed in less than an hour for maximum processing efficiency.

Commenting on this latest launch, Mylène Causette, Product Manager Tests, DSM Food Specialties, said: “Manufacturers across the globe are searching for ways to guarantee products are safe and contaminant-free. Food safety is a major area of concern for our customers and top of mind with consumers – we understand the issues and have launched Delvotest MT in response. This revolutionary system provides a proven mechanism to ensure products meet the rigorous international food safety standards now in place, for peace of mind at every stage of the supply chain.

“Our team of experts are always on hand to listen to customers, offering support and advice not only on initial testing but also as a long term partner. Our expertise helps customers adapt to changing needs. Plus, by investing in industry events such as the Dairy Safety Forum, which took place earlier this year in Beijing, DSM has a unique insight into current and future manufacturing challenges.”

The launch of Delvotest MT follows the International Dairy Safety forum which took place in January 2009. Organised by the Yili group and DSM, this one-day event brought together high level representatives of the Chinese Dairy Industry and Government Authorities to review key issues. Items for discussion included measures to safeguard product quality and regain consumer trust, as well as improved co-operation through the supply chain. Good practice sharing and the establishment of a safe milk source system in China were also high on the agenda.

DSM Food Specialties is internationally recognised as the market leader in the development and supply of dairy testing systems. This latest addition to the range means the company now offers a complete portfolio of products for the safest and most efficient detection of food contaminants in dairy applications.
