Royal DSM, the global Life and Material Sciences company, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding between its US-based Business Unit DSM Functional Materials and Empresa Brasileira de Biotechnologia (Ebrabiotech) of Brazil for the launch of a new line of DSM-branded bio-based materials targeting the concrete floor coatings market.  The initiative focuses on the development of bio-based castor oil materials, which is non-edible and helps to lower the total carbon footprint.

Facilities in Europe seeking a faster, greener and less invasive way to coat their concrete floors have some attractive new solutions available, thanks to DSM’s recent expansion of UVolve® Instant Floor Coatings products for the region. 

DSM and Corning Incorporated (NYSE:GLW) today announced the signing of a new, multi-year contract that extends and builds upon the two technology leaders’ more than 30 year supply relationship and track record in providing telecom operators with world-leading optical fiber products.

of its current DSM Desotech Business Unit will be integrated into this new structure.

DSM announced today that their eco-friendly line of UVolve® Instant Floor Coatings has received NSF registration for incidental food contact (NSF non-food compounds R2 category), making UVolve® an efficient and highly sustainable solution for food and beverage facilities where processing, handling, packaging and storage occurs, including restaurants, grocery stores and cold storage areas.

In March 2008, DSM Desotech filed an antitrust and patent infringement lawsuit against 3D Systems Corporation. On January 26th, 2009, a U.S. District Judge ruled that the majority of Desotech’s claims could proceed, including claims for attempted monopolization, unreasonable restraint of trade, deceptive trade practices and tortious interference with prospective business relations.

DSM Desotech has announced the opening of its newly expanded China ink manufacturing facility, DSM Desotech Specialty Chemicals (Shanghai) Ltd. (DDSC). The ISO-9001 certified operation has relocated from Gonglu to Xinghou, China, into a new facility that has doubled in size and, according to DSM, is positioned for growth.

In response to recent speculation in the stereolithography (“SL”) industry, DSM Desotech Inc. (“Desotech”) confirms that on March 14, 2008, it filed a lawsuit against 3D Systems (“3DS”) in federal court in Chicago. 

UV-curable coatings leader DSM Desotech today announced the acquisition of assets of U.S.-based Polymeric Processes Inc. (PPI), an innovative producer of UV-curable coatings for tube and pipe applications. Both parties have agreed not to disclose financial details.

DSM Desotech has received ISO-9001 certification for its China operation.  This includes a sales office in Shanghai, as well as a local production facility: DSM Desotech Specialty Chemicals (Shanghai), Ltd. (DDSC).
