DSM Dyneema acquires Cubic Tech
By acquiring Cubic Tech, DSM Dyneema will further extend the brand into high-performance fabrics.
Cubic Tech Corporation has specialized for more than 23 years in the custom design, development and production of innovative high performance ultra-lightweight flexible laminates and fabrics (known as cuben fiber)— most of them based on Dyneema®.
Cuben Fiber is the original company and product name that was sold to North Sails for the use in sailcloth. Outside of sailcloth the company was restarted as Cubic Tech Corporation. Even though, Cubic Tech promoted their product portfolio under the name CTF3, the industry continued to use Cuben Fiber as a reference to Cubic Tech’s product portfolio.
By acquiring Cubic Tech, DSM Dyneema will further extend the brand into high-performance fabrics, reinforcing the position as one of the leading brands in ultra-high performance materials. Going forward, Cubic Tech’s product portfolio will be integrated into the Dyneema® brand family and referred to as Dyneema® Composite fabrics.
Dyneema® Fabric benefits
Dyneema® fabrics unmatched strength-to-weight ratio and outstanding abrasion-resistance and durability increase the areas in which technical fabrics can be used successfully.
By collaborating with the leading brands in denim, apparel, footwear, sports equipment and lightweight outdoor products and accessories we aim to take innovation to the next level, with a new generation of high-strength, lightweight fabrics.
Dyneema® fabrics: freedom, style, protection… and choice
Dyneema® is available in four types of fabric:
Dyneema® Knitted Fabrics: Dyneema® Knitted Fabrics are available in various circular and warp knits that are tailored to the specific needs of the final application.
Dyneema® Woven Fabrics: Rigid and stretch woven fabrics with Dyneema® are ideal for making lightweight but strong outdoor apparel, footwear, and accessories.
Dyneema® Composite Fabrics: Flexible composite fabrics take strength and durability to new highs. Dyneema® Composite Fabrics increase tear, puncture, and abrasion performance dramatically compared with 500D nylon, while cutting weight and reducing bulk.
Dyneema® Denim: In addition to a ‘traditional’ technical woven fabric, Dyneema® is also available as Dyneema® Denim. This comes in two forms: as a filament yarn for reinforcement, or with Dyneema® blended into the cotton.
