Landing safely with Dyneema®

02 August 2016 - Luke Aikins jumped from 25,000 feet above the desert landscape of California's Simi Valley without a parachute, landing in a 100 feet x 100 feet, two-tiered net set up to catch him. He landed with a terminal velocity of 120 mph.

The landing net consisted of Ultra Cross netting made with Dyneema® manufactured by NET Systems.

How to Survive a 25,000-Foot Freefall Without a Parachute

Luke Aikins, who jumped out of planes for "Godzilla" and "Iron Man 3", achieved his biggest feat yet on live tv by being the first person to land a skydive without a parachute.

Strongest netting in the world

Ultra-Cross net, made with Dyneema® and manufactured by NET Systems, has been called the "Strongest Netting in the world". Each 1,8750-inch square of the Dyneema® rope can hold 826 pounds of force on its own, but the material doesn't stretch.

The same netting system is used to protect fans at 10 Major League Baseball stadiums.
