With Ultra lightweight Cut Resistant Gloves Made With Dyneema® Diamond Technology

The DSM connection

DSM Nutritional Products (DNP) and DSM Dyneema are both business groups within Royal DSM. DNP is a world-leading supplier of vitamins, carotenoids, and other nutritional solutions with three market-facing entities: Animal Nutrition & Health, Human Nutrition & Health, and Personal Care & Aroma Ingredients. In DNP’s Columbia, Maryland location, the organization has 120 employees, 70 of whom work in research in development labs, a work environment that presents some unique cut hazards.

Nitrile gloves not cutting it

Disposable nitrile and latex gloves protect hands from hazardous substances, but offer no cut protection. DNP wanted to take safety efforts even further by protecting workers from potential cut risks such as handling razors and ultra-thin vacuum glassware that's under pressure. A family affair

Shanta Myricks, the Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE) Professional at DNP was recommended to cut resistant gloves made with Dyneema®.

Trial and no error

Shanta recalled during the product trials in the labs. “When I brought the gloves made with Dyneema® Diamond Technology in, I didn’t have enough samples because everyone liked them so much,”

The most popular glove was MCR’s 9672DT2 made with Dyneema® Diamond Technology, this glove delivers an ANSI A2 (EN388 2016 level B) cut level, sufficient for daily cuts hazards faced in the lab.
