DSM Biomedical, a global leader in biomedical materials science, announced today Mr. Christophe Dardel’s appointment as President effective May 21, 2010. Mr. Dardel succeeds Mr. Steve Hartig who served as the Company’s president since 2006.
In his new position, Mr. Dardel will oversee the strategic development and execution of DSM Biomedical’s global activities in Berkeley, CA, USA as well as Geleen, The Netherlands. The business will continue to focus on strengthening existing technology platforms and will explore opportunities to form strategic partnerships that complement its activities in the biomedical market.
Mr. Dardel has a long history of developing innovative business models and rapidly achieving growth goals. Most recently, Mr. Dardel served as President of DSM Dyneema, the inventor and manufacturer of Dyneema®, the world’s strongest fiber™, successfully expanding the company at an average growth rate of over 15% per year in the last eight years and building a strong global presence of the DSM Dyneema brand.

Mr. Dardel holds a Masters of Science degree in Computer Science and Electronics from ESIEA in Paris and, prior to his roles with DSM, worked in team leadership and senior level management positions for Dyneon B.V., a subsidiary of 3M in The Netherlands, and E.I Dupont de Nemours for over a decade, based in France, Switzerland and The Netherlands.
