DSM to increase prices for Acrylic, Alkyd resins and Amino-crosslinking resins in EMEA.

Waalwijk, NL, 21 Jun 2011 01:00 CEST

Effective July 1st or as contracts allow, DSM Coating Resins will increase prices in Europe, Middle East and Africa for all its liquid Acrylic an Alkyd resins, both solvent and water borne and Amino resins with significant amounts, depending on the dynamics of the composing raw materials. This price increase affects the entire Coatings, Adhesives and Graphic Arts portfolio, including NeoCryl WB Acrylics, Uracron SB Acrylics and Uralac WB/ SB Alkyds and Aminos.

Ongoing and significant increasing costs of critical raw materials like MMA, solvents and natural oils necessitate these price increases. This is in large part down to supply-demand imbalances caused by structural capacity constraints as well as high upstream commodity prices.

“We have been absorbing these increases for some time now, meaning that margins at these products have declined to unsustainably low levels. To ensure we can continue focusing on adding value for customers by delivering innovations and supply capabilities for the technologies of the future, we have to take the necessary actions.” said Pascal de Sain, Managing Director Specialty Resins, DSM Coating Resins.
