DSM wins the Global Deal and Global Partnership 2013 categories at the Sustainable Biofuels Awards 2013 for its cellulosic bio-ethanol and bio-chemicals work
The Global Deal of the Year went to US-based POET-DSM Advanced Biofuels in recognition of the partnership’s integrated technology package that converts corn crop residue to cellulosic ethanol, and its objective of licensing this technology for use by third parties globally as well as in POET’s network of 26 corn ethanol plants. The elite panel of independent industry experts judged that the potential of the partnership was worthy of recognition as the deal completed in 2012/2013 that is of particular consequence for the long term development of the biofuels industry worldwide.
The same panel also determined that Reverdia, DSM and Roquette’s joint venture for the production of bio-based succinic acid was the Partnership of the Year, as in their opinion it was the hottest joint venture for the commercialization of a bio- based chemical. The bio-based succinic acid produced by Reverdia is the first non-fossil feedstock derived chemical building block that allows customers in the chemical industry to choose a bio-based alternative with a lower eco-footprint for a broad range of applications, from packaging to footwear.
The Sustainable Biofuels Awards recognize the tremendous innovation that is taking place in the development of truly sustainable and renewable fuels. “Taking the time to celebrate the innovation and invention in this industry is really the heart of these Awards,” commented Nadim Chaudhry, Chief Executive Officer of Green Power Conferences. “Our industry has such outstanding leaders, innovative technology and groundbreaking partnerships happening all the time, every year the nominations increase and the judges find it more difficult to choose a winner.”
