DSM welcomes EU Novel Foods approval for heart health antioxidant
At 99% concentration, resVida is the purest form of trans-resveratrol on the market. As a potent antioxidant, resveratrol counteracts harmful oxidative compounds and also supports the body’s own defense mechanisms in protecting against free radical-induced cell damage. resVida comes along with an impressive package of scientific studies that indicate that it is readily bioavailable, could help maintaining healthy blood pressure, blood glucose and insulin activity, and could induce endurance training-like effects in muscle such as increased fat oxidation and fat storage capacity. resVida may also mimic of the metabolic benefits of calorie restriction and contribute to healthy aging.
Ruedi Duss, Global Marketing Manager at DSM Nutritional Products, explains: “Trans-resveratrol has long been recognized for the role it plays in improving cardiovascular health. As a naturally-occurring polyphenol, resveratrol is found most notably in red wine and is suspected to be involved in the so-called ‘French Paradox’. The term relates to the fact that the death rate from coronary heart disease in France is low, despite high saturated fat intake. It is thought that this is due to moderate, but regular, consumption of red wine.
“DSM has spent ten years developing and testing resVida to bring the benefits of trans-resveratrol to its customers. The EU Novel Foods ruling follows DSM’s self-affirmed Generally Recognized as Safe status in the US, confirming the consumer safety of the product for the European food supplement market.”
resVida is a consistent, quality product, free of pesticides and herbicides and produced according to Food Good Manufacturing Principles. It also meets Kosher and Halal requirements. The safety of resVida has been evaluated in a comprehensive battery of studies and is unmatched by any other form of trans-resveratrol. It has also been demonstrated in human studies to be well tolerated.
