DSM increases global production capacity for fiber optic materials business

Royal DSM, a global science-based company active in health, nutrition and materials, announces that it has increased capacity with the addition of the DSM-AGI Taiwan facility for production of UV curable coatings for its fiber optic materials business. This expansion allows the business to meet increased customer demand and provide a local supply chain for the Asia market.

DSM’s fiber optic business continues to grow with the increased demand for high speed and quality telecommunication networks. The completion of the acquisition of the joint venture partnership with AGI on 9 August of this year allowed the business to expand its manufacturing footprint to the Taiwan facility. AGI has many years of experience in the production of UV curable materials and the business team has been working closely with customers to qualify coatings that are produced at this facility.

“We are excited about the growth that is taking place in the telecommunications industry and as a result expand production of the DeSolite® Supercoatings product line to our facility in Taiwan,” says Aukje Doornbos, President of DSM Functional Materials. “The team in Taiwan is very experienced producing UV curable materials and this investment allows us to have more capacity available to meet our product demands and to provide local supply to our customers.”
