DSM's Arnitel® drives early market success of ZTE Smart Watch

The launch of the ZTE Quartz in April gives ZTE a visible stake in the rapidly growing global wearables market; a market that is expected to double in size by 2021, according to the International Data Corporation (IDC). After its successful launch in China, ZTE Quartz is targeting global markets and the ZTE wearable is set to be a T-Mobile exclusive in the USA.
End-to-end DSM services have supported ZTE in every phase of product development, from product design, prototyping and small batch sampling to mass-production. ZTE’s production line has been optimized to achieve cost-effective, top quality production.

DSM’s Arnitel TPE is both safe and comfortable. The material meets ISO 10993 standards, and is rated USP Class VI, the highest classification for the biocompatibility of devices. Arnitel’s thermal plastics are resistant to perspiration, oils and other liquids that come into contact with wearable devices. The material is also highly resistant to UV rays, which prevents plastic aging. Arnitel TPE is easy to process in injection moulding machines and can be used in overmoulded structures with other thermoplastics such as ABS, thermoplastic polyesters or polycarbonate. Arnitel is free of halogen, red phosphorous and fluoropolymers, and is fully recyclable.
