DSM drives clean operations at its Zhangbin site, Taiwan
In particular, DSM Zhangbin has introduced a new double roller drying system that enables a 30 to 40% reduction of its contributions to landfill waste. The new system helps to evaporate the water content of waste resins, which are by-products of the manufacturing process. What’s more, DSM Zhangbin has been exploring the possibility of recycling these materials, with the aim of achieving zero contributions to landfill waste.
In addition, the Zhangbin site has recently switched from using fuel oil to natural gas to power its two steam boilers, which are used to create heat in key resin manufacturing processes. This switch has driven operational reliability and unlocked significant energy consumption efficiencies. Specifically, this initiative has reduced the carbon footprint of the site by 30%, equivalent to 1,300 tons, compared to the 2017 benchmark.
