DSM advocates positive change at One Young World

Forty-five DSM employees recently joined thousands of other driven young professionals in The Hague (NL) for the One Young World (OYW) Summit, an annual event that brings together the brightest young men and women from around the world. Attendees from national and international companies, NGOs, universities and other forward-thinking organizations were joined at this year’s summit by world leaders from the public and private sectors, an opportunity for participants of all ages to make lasting connections to drive positive change.

DSM’s CEO Feike Sijbesma received a rousing reception from the crowd with a keynote address on tackling the world’s toughest problems, including malnutrition and climate change, by leading with purpose. A staunch supporter of the UN Sustainable Development Goals, Feike  urged the audience to work together in partnerships across sectors.

Feike Sijbesma is a founding member of the OYW Global Advisory Board established this month. The Board will support One Young World in developing its framework beyond a forum for the potential leaders of tomorrow into a globally recognized body whose ambassadors can have a positive influence on the most powerful organizations worldwide.

In addition to sending an employee delegation, the company sponsored five scholarships for attendees from Zambia and Ethiopia working in nutrition and eradicating malnutrition and food insecurity. The scholarship is built around Africa Improved Foods, an innovative public-private partnership making nutritious fortified foods locally in Africa, for Africa, with the objective of ending malnutrition.
