Royal DSM is a purpose-led global science-based company in Nutrition, Health and Sustainable Living. With a 100-year track record in materials sciences across a broad range of industries, an annual net sales of around €10 billion and approximately 23,000 employees worldwide, we’re a solar partner you can trust.
At DSM we fervently believe that there is no point in succeeding in a world that fails – which is why our purpose is to use our unique family of technologies and wellspring of knowledge to create brighter lives for all.
Our expertise in solutions for sustainable living is based on many years of leadership in materials science. It spans everything from engineering thermoplastics to sustainable resins, to high-performance fibers and coatings, all of which help create better, greener products that are essential to our everyday lives – from cars to electronics to packaging to construction.
With major R&TD centers in both Europe and Asia staffed by some of the brightest minds in the industry, we use the huge and diverse pool of knowledge already inside DSM – and apply it to fast-growing industries like solar.
For example, polyamides have been used by our customers for many years in tough, outdoor applications like tubes and pipes in the oil industry. Now we are applying our know-how in polyamides to make our Endurance backsheets more sustainable and durable.
The principles of sustainability are core to everything we do at DSM. We exist to create brighter lives for all. That means creating solar solutions that not only benefit people and profit, but are also kinder to the planet: We call them Brighter Living Solutions, and they include all the major offerings in our solar portfolio.
For the last 10 years DSM has consistently been at (or very near to) the top of the Dow Sustainability Index; while the Corporate Knights Global 100 Sustainability Index continues to rank us highest among materials science companies.
In addition to the materials expertise we already bring to solar, we’re also nurturing a new generation of innovation in this field by establishing, for example, the Bright Minds Challenge – a global competition to highlight the most exciting new science (and scientists) in the renewable energy field.
In a similar vein, we’re also a keen participant in the SunRISE Challenge, which offers start-ups a unique opportunity to fast-track their business and benefit from the expertise of both DSM and its partners, including Greentown Labs and Fraunhofer CSE. In the past two years some 100 start-ups have been identified. We have no doubts that there will be many more to come...
