Today’s global oil and gas industry is no stranger to extremes. ForTii, DSM’s PPA (polyphthalamide) family, helps engineers who need to take these harsh environments into account. ForTii is a breakthrough high-temperature polyamide with heat-stabilized, halogen-free and flame-retardant grades for demanding applications.

The ForTii MX metal replacement portfolio enables engineers and designers to realize structural components with robust part performance over a large temperature range and in aggressive environments (e.g., salts, acids, coolants and mineral oils). That means a high-temperature polyamide with a broad and versatile portfolio of grades that delivers high performance with a unique balance of properties.

Where ForTii has excellent chemical resistance to the majority of chemicals and is on par with the top competitor materials, ForTii Ace surpasses the performance of a wide range of thermoplastic solutions.

  • PPA with highest aromatic content of >50wt%
  • Excellent chemical resistance under extreme conditions (moisture, salt, oils, acids, etc)
  • Extreme stiffness and strength, up to 150°
  • A glass transition temperature of 160°C

The versatility of DSM’s ForTii portfolio can provide solutions in a wide variety of environments, ranging from bearing cages in transmission oils to water-glycol cooled thermal management modules. For complex mechanical systems, ForTii allows designs with thinner walls and the replacement of metals or plastics such as PEEK (polyetheretherketone), where this was not possible before.
