Akulon® Diablo is our high heat resistant polyamide 6/66, ideal for metal replacement in Under-the-Hood applications up to 220°C. We created Akulon Diablo as a material to help customers tackle the ever-challenging temperature range within smaller, hotter, turbo engines. As a result the latest grade Akulon Diablo HDT2500 delivers a 3,000 hour continuous use temperature of up to 220°C, with a significant improved HDT value.

Akulon Diablo is ideal for metal-to-plastic replacement in components for air intake systems ranging from charge air cooler end caps, to air intake manifolds, to air intake ducts, turbo exhaust resonators and engine covers. With its reduced weight this material reduces both fuel consumption and resultant carbon emissions – good for people, planet and profit.

Chemical and gas resistant automotive plastic

Akulon Diablo can be blow molded or injection molded and is easy to process. In fact at DSM we’re more than a materials provider: We offer extensive application knowledge to support customers with CAE, design and design optimization so they can meet OEM requirements.

Akulon Diablo has outstanding resistance to chemicals and gases in EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) systems; plus excellent processing properties that create finished parts with high burst pressure weld-line strength for injection molded parts and a high quality surface finish.

Stanyl® PA46, Stanyl® Diablo PA46, Akulon® Diablo PA and Arnitel® HT TPC allow for light weight solutions as compared to metal or rubber or alternative plastics (Stanyl® is 10% lighter than PPS); Stanyl® PA46, Stanyl® Diablo PA46, Akulon® Diablo PA and Arnitel® HT TPC allow for cost effective solutions (Stanyl lowers system cost up to 20% versus metal); Stanyl® PA46, Stanyl® Diablo PA46, Akulon® Diablo PA and Arnitel® HT TPC allow for reliable solutions (Stanyl® Diablo is long term resistant up to 230 ˚C, Akulon® Diablo ca be used around 200 ˚C) and Arnitel® HT is ideal as single part solution for flexible hot charge ducts.
