ForTii in Automotive
ForTii® helps meet the defining trends in automotive electrical and electronics (E&E): Mass reduction for cost savings, increased miniaturization, design flexibility, and better heat management.
ForTii® helps meet the defining trends in automotive electrical and electronics (E&E): Mass reduction for cost savings, increased miniaturization, design flexibility, and better heat management.
So what exactly does ForTii bring to automotive E&E? First and foremost it provides best-in-class operating temperature coupled with high-flow properties that allow the design of thinner component walls. In fact, ForTii enables you to improve production cycle times by 25 to 40 percent through thinner wall designs.
This innovative material supports miniaturization, easily withstanding the high temperatures of surface-mount soldering techniques (SMT), as well as the high-heat environment of more compact engines, like turbo engines; and it even minimizes the chances of electrical breakdown in the form of tracking.
As well as being a cost-effective solution, ForTii is also kinder to the environment.
We offer a full portfolio of halogen-free, flame retardant materials that help our customers meet the growing need to consider product lifeycle assessments and their wider affect on the planet.
Realizing structural parts in engineering plastics, or hybrid constructions with metal, is done for various reasons, ranging from light weighing, cost optimization, NVH optimization (Noise Vibration Harshness), function integration/design freedom up to dealing with aggressive environments, like road salt, mineral oil, battery acid, coolants, etc. Increasing requirements, liability and shorter design cycles call for materials that allow designers to realize robust part performance over a wide temperature range in challenging environments with high humidity or in contact with aggressive fluids.
We already offer a wide portfolio of ForTii grades – with more to come. Our portfolio includes both (halogen-free) flame retardant and non-flame retardant grades for both E&E and automotive markets.
Any material used for Under The Hood (UTH) applications must be able to withstand the toughest of tests. ForTii is just such a material, offering high temperature resistance, to oil and other aggressive fluid found in the engine – and all coupled with excellent mechanical strength.
ForTii® gives automotive design engineers renewed flexibility in creating next-generation connectors that are smaller yet contain improved features – and all the while able to perform reliably at the highest temperatures…
