Simplicity: Real taste, nothing else
According to European Food Law process flavors, a maillard reaction between a protein source and reducing sugars is not considered natural. Which is why we developed the same functionality as process flavors with a simple declaration: Natural flavor or simply yeast extract. In other words, they are literally extracts from yeast – nothing more, nothing less.
It’s increasingly important with markets like Japan prohibiting the use of L-cysteine while the EU (through EC No 1334/2008) has changed its classification of fermentative L-cysteine, ruling out a natural declaration.
