The overall theme of DSM’s booth at this year’s FiE is to show how small ingredients can have big benefits. Visitors to the stand will be able to taste delicious food and check out how fortification contributes to increasing its value. With new ingredients, formulations and services for baking, dairy, meat and savory food products as well as dietary supplements, beverages, confectionery and infant nutrition, DSM will demonstrate that small additions can make a big difference.

A core aim of DSM’s presence at FiE is to help customers decide which ingredient best fits which food, beverage or supplement, and understand how the resulting benefits in end consumer products can be marketed and supported by solid evidence. Accurate choice of optimal ingredients makes it possible to do more with less. At the DSM booth, breakfasts, hot meals, desserts, drinks and snacks will all be on the menu. Upon entry, visitors will be able to check out which fortified food, beverage or supplement contains which ingredient. Touchscreen displays will explain what can be added, for example to a specific fruit juice and which health benefit is related to a particular nutritional ingredient. Visitors will discover these benefits mean that, with the right ingredients, everyone can enjoy a tasty and healthy eating experience.

Scientific research underpins the continual development of sustainable solutions to do more with less in the food and beverage industries. DSM is investigating creative ways of streamlining processing and preventing waste, while offering functional benefits to end consumer products and reducing costs for manufacturers - even as far back in the value chain as the farmer’s crop protection.

Maxagusto™ - the vegetable and spices flavor range at the heart of DSM’s savory ingredient portfolio. Be it onion, garlic, or spices, Maxagusto delivers intense taste and flavor to create a highly concentrated, yet authentic, taste sensation. The onion and garlic range originates from natural ingredients and magnifies the taste properties of home-cooked food. This means food producers are less dependent on seasonal variations and can make simply labeled products for consumers looking for natural and convenient tasty food.

MaxiPro® - an innovative enzyme technology that can be re-applied further downstream during processed meat manufacture. Used for the decoloration of blood in meat products, MaxiPro reduces waste, protects profit and conveys functional benefits such as neutral aroma and increased protein concentration.

Multirome™ - a yeast extract that allows 50% sodium reduction, as well as 80% reduced carbon footprint. This concentrated ingredient provides umami impact at low dosages, creating cost savings with no compromise in taste and flavor quality.

Delvo®Cheese - dairy cultures for cottage cheese manufacturing that allow protein to be retained more efficiently in the curd. This means more cottage cheese can be produced with less milk.

OatWell® - oat beta-glucan has clinically proven health benefits in the areas of cholesterol reduction, blood glucose control and general digestive health. The European Commission has approved several pioneering Article 13 and 14 health claims for the use of OatWell beta-glucans in these areas.

Fruitflow® – now available in a dry powder, derived from tomato extract. It is effective at a concentrated addition rate of 150mg. Opening the route to supplement products including soft gels, capsules, tablets and stick packs, as well as food and beverage products, it allows manufacturers to target a broader consumer base. Fruitflow carries an approved EU health claim for maintaining healthy blood circulation and has GRAS status in the US.

As part of the official conference program: Dr Rob Winwood, Scientific Communications Manager for Nutritional Lipids, DSM, will be presenting from 11.15 – 11.40 on Wednesday 20 November in module 5A: F&B to Target an Ageing Population: Health and Beauty with the topic “Maintaining Healthy Circulation and Blood Lipid Profile in the Silver Generation”. On the same day, there will also be a seminar on new product OatWell, from 16.30 – 16.55.

DSM will be celebrating the launch of the new products at an on-stand happy hour, held on the first and second days of the show from 16.00 – 18.00.
