We are announcing this request for applications to encourage research designed to elucidate health benefits stemming from human gut health, in the Asia-Pacific demographic.
Applicants would need to submit ideas that investigate the role of human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs) or postbiotics, singularly or in combination with probiotics, with the option of including that with other micronutrients, in modulating the gut microbiome and its subsequent impact on improving health status in a target population (i.e. age group, life stages, with existing health issues).
To be eligible for the nutrition grant we are looking for small, discrete, well-defined projects, preferably human clinical studies, that can be completed in 12-18 months.
Applicants will be required to submit a letter of intent of their proposed project, and if short-listed, will be invited to submit a full application to the selection committee.
Grant recipients will be notified by August 2024. Up to 5 grants will be awarded in this grant round and the recipients will be invited to present their proposals at an award event, planned to be held at the end of November.

The HMO donation program was established in 2010 to expand the knowledge and support research in HMOs. All healthcare professionals, researchers and academics interested in the field of human milk oligosaccharide research can apply for HMO donation.
To date, dsm-firmenich has supported over 100 research projects through the donation program. These projects span 55 different research centers all around the globe. The donation program accesses dsm-firmenich’s HMO library, which contains nearly 20 different HMO structures and mixtures.
