Vitamin C

Prevention and treatment of scurvy is a traditional use of vitamin C, which now occurs relatively rarely. Vitamin C is mostly used for preventing and treating the common cold and increasing immune function in patients with different diseases – primarily respiratory tract infections. Clinical reports highlight potential role of vitamin C in Arterial hypertension, atherosclerosis and cancer. In some clinical studies, high-dose vitamin C has been shown to improve quality of life in cancer patients, although more evidence is needed to conclusively demonstrate these effects. There are clinical studies referring to beneficial role of vitamin C in cardiovascular health field, including arterial hypertension and atherosclerosis.
