DSM’s new webinar to address the role of the food industry in confronting malnutrition with leading expert

DSM’s Hector Cori, Director of Nutrition Science & Advocacy LATAM will join independent expert Alfonso Valenzuela Bonomo, Doctor en Ciencias, Profesor Titular del Instituto de Nutrición y Tecnología de los Alimentos (INTA), Universidad De Chile y de la Facultad De Medicina de la Universidad de los Andes, in a webinar to discuss the role of the food industry in confronting malnutrition. The complimentary online event will take place on 6th May 2015 at 9:00 BRT and 17:00 BRT and will be in Spanish.

Malnutrition is a prevalent issue worldwide, with individuals not consuming sufficient levels of essential nutrients. At the same time, obesity is a growing concern as people eat too much food for their activity levels. Today’s society is not currently expected to meet the 2025 World Health Assembly (WHA) targets for nutrition and it is essential that nutrition programs are developed further to achieve nutrition status improvements.

Food fortification is an effective way to create nutrient dense food and combat malnutrition, which allows for better socio-economic development. The food, beverage and dietary supplement industry plays a vital role in promoting public health nutrition by developing affordable, healthy and nutritious choices for consumers.

This informative webinar will discuss why confronting malnutrition requires collaboration across sectors, with relevant stakeholders including government, civil organizations and commercial bodies.
