DSM receives European Responsible Care Award from CEFIC

As part of the initiative, DSM introduced a structured program that set clear environmental targets for the four year period through to 2015. The areas of focus for DSM included reducing emissions and non-hazardous landfill waste and improving energy efficiency and waste use.
Based on 2010 data for the Dalry site, the sustainability program introduced by DSM has had a significant impact. The targets set were achieved and even exceeded in some areas. For example, nutrient rich organic effluent sludge was recycled for use in land restoration and agriculture; reducing landfill waste by 90%. Similarly, DSM lowered its electrical consumption by eliminating its redundant equipment and ensuring all systems were in a good state of repair.
The initiatives at DSM’s Dalry site form part of its ongoing commitment to working to create a more sustainable business. Through its Quality for Life™ principles, DSM assures its customers that its vitamin B5 and vitamin C production is safe and meets expectations in terms of quality, reliability, traceability and sustainability.
