Challenges in trauma and fusion

We see a market that recognizes the potential for new materials to help solve some of its greatest challenges. For example, preventing the need for implant removals in trauma applications has huge possibilities for both patients and medical providers. However, achieving this requires biocompatible materials that are proven to perform safely - and can reliably degrade slowly over time as the patient heals.

Another key trend is the demand from surgeons for improved handling abilities of bone grafts, which can best be achieved through new materials that give them increased versatility in the OR – as well as the osteoconductive properties needed to ensure predictable fusions. For example, our injectable, biomimetic ceramic putties deliver bone graft material precisely to promote fusion and stimulate osteogenesis. 

We also offer arthroscopically injectable bone void fillers; as well as highly durable spacers and load-bearing materials in the form of our biocompatible medical polyurethanes. They help support joints and the spine while reducing adverse reactions in patients during surgery.
