
Vitamin K is an essential co-factor for the synthesis of prothrombin (factor II) and other blood coagulation factors. Vitamin K is used in treatment and prevention of hemorrhage due to vitamin K deficiency, coagulation disorders that are due to the faulty formation of factors II, VII, IX and X. There is an evidence for the role of vitamin K in bone development and its efficacy in osteoporosis and fractures prevention was reported in clinical science.
