dsm-firmenich's New-generation Phytase Now Available to the Swine Industry

(Parsippany, New Jersey — September 21, 2022) dsm-firmenich Animal Nutrition and Health — a global science-based company focused on nutrition, health and sustainable living — announced the availability of HiPhorius™ for use in swine. HiPhorius™ is a new, complete phytase solution designed to help swine producers achieve sustainable and profitable protein production. It enables access to a high potency phytase, giving swine producers more flexibility in diet optimization.

HiPhorius™ raises the market standard for phytase technology, delivering consistent improvements in animal performance through efficient phosphorous utilization. HiPhorius™ is designed to help producers achieve sustainable and profitable animal protein production.

Peter Allen, dsm-firmenich North American director of performance solutions + BIOMIN® said, “We are excited about HiPhorius™ as it will bring significant benefits to our customers whether they are looking to optimize diets or get more efficiency from their current diets. Depending on swine management, objectives and choice of enzymes, our customers can see a feed cost reduction of 2% – 4% in swine. That improvement contributes to producers’ profitability and improves the sustainability of livestock production while demonstrating how we fulfill the dsm-firmenich food system commitments’ aim of double-digit reduction of livestock emissions by 2030.”

Jon Bergstrom, dsm-firmenich senior technical support manager for swine adds, “In addition to the efficiency, performance and environmental benefits, HiPhorius™ releases fully bioavailable phosphorus, contributing to greater pig bone strength and helps ensure that the nutrient needs of pigs are fully realized.”

HiPhorius is now available throughout North America. For more information on HiPhorius™, producers can visit the website or reach out to a dsm-firmenich account manager to learn how to incorporate HiPhorius™ in their operation.

About phytases

For decades, animal protein producers have relied on phytases as an alternative to inorganic phosphate for both economic and sustainability reasons. Rock phosphate is a non-renewable resource that needs to be managed efficiently. As prices of this important source of phosphorus have increased over recent years and pressure for more sustainable animal protein production grows, more attention has been given to phytases to deliver greater efficiency. With its enhanced potency, HiPhorius™ fills the gap, allowing a significant reduction of phosphorous in monogastric diets. The addition of HiPhorius™ directly contributes to a significant decrease of phosphorus emissions from swine. This not only optimizes value for the producer but also reduces the environmental footprint of animal production.
