More Environmental Product Declarations for our Portfolio of Feed additives

Around the world and here in North America, we are starting to get asked more often for information about the environmental footprint of the products that we sell. In response, we launched an environmental product declaration (EPD) project to provide feed and animal protein producers with comprehensive information about the environmental impact of their feed additive solutions. EPDs offer transparent data on greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, energy consumption, and water usage, enabling producers to make informed decisions and reduce their carbon footprint.

Based upon rigorous, 3rd-party certified life cycle analysis, EPDs contain data and analysis of the footprint per kilogram of our vitamins, carotenoids, enzymes and other Performance Solutions products. Customers increasingly care about this information as they quantify and start working to reduce the GHG footprint of meat, dairy & eggs. You may have heard a company set a goal to be Net Zero by 2050, or have a 30% reduction in the carbon intensity of a food item, for example. In order to measure progress against these goals, they need to know the footprints of the inputs they use to produce their food products, including the feed ingredients. We have completed the analysis for the majority of our products, and we make them available to our customers free of charge, including in our online customer portal.

Publishing EPDs is not only consistent with dsm-firmenich’s own corporate sustainability commitments, but also aligns us with our customers’ sustainability initiatives, too. You can read more about it here: How Environmental Product Declarations Support Feed and Animal Protein Producers on their Sustainability Journey (dsm.com). You can also contact your dsm-firmenich Animal Nutrition & Health representative to learn more.
