DSM announces that CRINA® Poultry Plus (a preparation of benzoic acid, thymol, eugenol and piperine) has been authorized under the Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2015/1426 as a safe and effective zootechnical feed additive to improve the performance of broilers.

The regulation has been adopted by the Commission and Standing Committee for Plants, Animals, Food and Feed and has been published in the Official Journal of the European Union (L223/8) on 26 August 2015, entering into force on 15 September 2015.

Following the recent EFSA assessment in 2014, this announcement concludes the registration process with legal approval. Based on the confirmed safety and performance enhancement benefits of CRINA Poultry Plus, specifically for the target species that include chickens for fattening, chickens reared for laying and minor poultry species for fattening and reared for laying, the product is now listed as an approved EU feed additive.

The performance enhancement benefits of CRINA Poultry Plus qualified by this authorization, confirm its potential to improve feed to gain ratio in chickens for fattening while being safe to both animal and human health, as well as the environment.

DSM is dedicated to supporting poultry producers across the world through continual research and innovation. Christophe Paulus, Global Eubiotics Category Manager at DSM comments, “We are at the end of a long journey in the registration of this feed additive. Now that CRINA Poultry Plus has been officially recognized as a zootechnical additive improving broiler performance, poultry producers can take advantage of the benefits it has to offer, with confidence. This additional development in the European authorization serves to further reinforce DSM’s position as being at the forefront in the animal feed industry.”
