Vitamin K3

DSM ESSENTIAL PRODUCTS

Vitamin K: the key vitamin for blood coagulation with important function in bone formation

Vitamin K3 or menadione is produced by means of chemical synthesis. The forms normally used for feeding animals are Menadione Sodium Bisulfite (water soluble) and Menadione Nicotinamide Bisulfite.

The principal function of vitamin K is the control of the blood coagulation period.

A large number of proteins with different metabolic functions require vitamin K for their biosynthesis. Thus the majority of tissues have relationships depending on vitamin K, in particular in bone tissue two proteins K-dependent are involved in calcium and bone metabolism.
