DSM announces Kazunori Maruyama as President of DSM Japan

Royal DSM, a global science-based company in Nutrition, Health and Sustainable Living, today announces Kazunori Maruyama’s appointment as President of DSM Japan, effective 1 July. Maruyama succeeds Yuji Nakahara, who has served as president since August 2015.

Maruyama started his career in 1993 with Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation as a research associate and manager of new business development. In 2006, he joined Dow Corning where he held various senior global commercial and marketing positions. He joined his most recent company, OMRON Corporation in 2015, where he has held various General Management positions. In his most recent role, Maruyama was responsible for Business Incubation and Business Development in Agri-Automation.

Maruyama holds a master’s degree in Business Administration and Chemical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he was a Leaders for Manufacturing Fellow. He also holds a Ph.D. in Materials Science from Mie University, in Mie, Japan.

As president, Maruyama will be responsible for leading strategic advocacy in the field of sustainability while building relationships and driving new business development amongst key customers and business partners. His role will also provide leadership on delivering innovative solutions across the nutrition and materials business that address some of the country’s biggest challenges and bolster business agility. He will further nurture a performance culture that is customer focused while growing talent leadership and skills in DSM Japan.

The ageing population in Japan is expected to exceed 30% of the total population by 2020 and DSM is committed to providing science-based products and solutions that contribute to a healthier ageing society. In addition, DSM’s portfolio of weight reduction solutions in the automotive industry is well positioned to continue to advance a low carbon economy.

Former DSM Japan President Yuji Nakahara will be taking on a new role at DSM, leading the Global Nutritional Lipids business out of the North America headquarters.
