STIMU-TEX® AS

Immediate relief for sensitive and irritated skin

A unique mixture of upcycled spent grain wax, cold-processed argan oil, and shea butter that provides effective relief to sensitive and irritated skin

Up to 50% of consumers claim that their skin feels sensitive or even itchy. In order to feel good, our skin needs something to counterbalance the aggravating stimuli present in our everyday environment. In answer to this, DSM developed STIMU-TEX® AS, a unique mixture of high-quality, upcycled spent grain wax, cold-processed argan oil, and shea butter. STIMU-TEX® AS visibly reduces histamine-related symptoms like irritation and itching, providing people with a liberating feeling of ultimate skin comfort.

Upcycled spent grain wax – the key ingredient of STIMU-TEX® AS

For generations, beer brewers have been aware of the ability of spent grain waste to soothe skin and relieve itching. Dermatological studies performed on skin have confirmed this traditional knowledge. DSM obtains spent grain wax through extraction from brewer’s spent grain waste using supercritical CO2. This high-tech extraction process is particularly gentle and produces golden, 100%-pure spent grain wax which is free from organic solvents and preservatives. It contains large amounts of unsaturated fatty acids, which are essential for the regeneration of the epidermal barrier.

Sensitive skin is characterized by a weak barrier function, which can be triggered by different stimuli present in our environment. STIMU-TEX® AS effectively eases sensitive skin complaints thanks to the complementary skin-care properties of its three compounds.

  • It effectively helps to inhibit epidermal reddening processes (in vitro)
  • It reduces the effects of histamine release like redness and itching (in vivo)
