We are excited to share some new sun care formulations that answer these needs with new personal care ingredient combinations and textures and look forward to sharing an update on our initiative to approve a new UV-filter, PARSOL® Shield (Bemotrizol), in USA market.

Luciana Uttembergue D’Elia, a Brazilian national, holds an Executive MBA, a degree in Chemistry and Cosmetics Technology, and a degree in Pharmacy and Biochemistry. She has 14 years of experience in the cosmetics industry in both Latin America and in the US. She has been with DSM for 9 years and for the past 4 years Luciana was responsible for the North American Regional Application Center for Personal Care as the Senior Technical Manager, but has recently been hired into a new role as Senior Marketing Manager responsible for the Technical and Marketing Departments.
Sr. Regulatory Manager
Carl D'Ruiz has more than 20 years of experience in leading and implementing strategic scientific, regulatory and advocacy programs and solutions for the successful development, growth and sustainability of global consumer product brands, technologies and specialty chemicals. He is currently the Senior Manager of Regulatory Affairs of Personal Care and Pharma at DSM Nutritional Products, LLC and the current Chair of the Personal Care Products Council Sunscreen Consortium.
Mr. D'Ruiz holds a master's in human and environmental health science from Yale University and a bachelor’s in political science from Fordham University. He is a full member of the Society of Toxicology, Society for Cosmetic Chemists and The Photodermatology Society and also sits on the Advisory Board of the Customer Experience Program at Seton Hall University.
Global Key Account Manager
Regan Tillou currently Global Key account manager, has been with DSM for 6 years. She has over 17 years of experience in the Personal Care industry with roles in formulation chemistry, technical marketing and sales. She began her career as a chemist with L’OREAL, and moved onto various marketing and sales roles at Croda, Sensient, and Presperse before joining DSM in 2015.
Senior Lead Scientist
Gernot received his Ph.D. in Biology from the University of Basle in Switzerland and continued academic research with a Post-Doctoral Fellowship at the ETH Zurich, Switzerland. Afterwards he joined the personal care industry with P&G. At the Department of experimental product safety, he hold the position of laboratory head for skin metabolism and skin penetration, with focus on hair dyes and their oxidative reaction products. In 2009 he became Head of Preclinical department at Galderma Switzerland, responsible especially for sun protection products, ingredient safety, cell based in-vitro evaluations and related claim substations. Furthermore he act as scientific Nonclinical advisor for all global brands, especially after Galderma was transformed into Nestlé Skin Health. In 2019 Gernot joined the DSM Science and Promotion Sun Care Team as Senior Lead Scientist. One of his first projects was the development of the benchmark driven Eco-Sun-Class evaluation system for UV absorbers, helping formulators in selecting filters based on their environmental impact.
Since more than a decade he is now dedicated to sun protection products and related research. He is a member of the ISO work group 7 for sun protection methods. Within the industry-wide consortium to compare in vivo and alternative SPF methods, he functions as Cluster Lead for insilico methodology.
