Royal DSM, a global science-based company active in nutrition, health and sustainable living will be launching MaxaGourmet™, a new portfolio of clean label taste ingredients, at this year’s FI Europe. This new range - developed using foodstuffs that consumers are familiar with, such as herbs and vegetables - allows savory food manufacturers, flavor houses and seasoning producers to create products with an adventurous and authentic taste profile by providing distinctive flavor notes and adding taste complexity. Inspired by the flavors created through sautéing, simmering or slow cooking food, MaxaGourmet has a light roasted, caramelized character. It is easy to implement and its high potency means that only a small amount is needed to achieve the desired taste profile. MaxaGourmet is available in three culinary taste directions inspired by popular cuisines - Continental, Mediterranean and Oriental - and helps to create great tasting soups, sauces, seasonings and plant-based meat alternatives that appeal to consumers.

On-trend, MaxaGourmet supports manufacturers in achieving the clean label standards that today’s consumers look for, while offering authentic taste profiles. With over 30% of 25,000 consumers globally saying that a short, recognizable ingredient list is an important factor for them when choosing a brand or product, manufacturers must incorporate clean labels into product development to stay competitive1. By implementing MaxaGourmet, producers can tap into growing demand for savory products with exciting flavors and recognizable ingredients that people are familiar with. This solution also enables manufacturers to create on-preference plant-based foods and seasonings with authentic taste profiles, including vegan or vegetarian soups, sauces and meat analogues.

“Today’s discerning consumers want great tasting food they can trust,” said Gilbert Verschelling, Innovation Manager for Savory Ingredients & Solutions at DSM. “Taste remains a top priority for populations worldwide, but consumers are also looking for products with short, recognizable ingredients lists. Manufacturers can now create an even stronger appeal by combining a full flavor profile with clean label claims. Our next generation MaxaGourmet taste solution range has been developed with these needs in mind, naturally enriching savory foods to support producers in creating clean label products with a new taste sensation. This makes it a valuable addition to any formulator’s toolbox.”
